The site known as the Kuruhinna tharaagandu are the ruins of an ancient Buddhist monastery believed to have been in use in the pre-Islamic period. The excavation conducted between 1996 and 1998 revealed the ruins of what would have been a sprawling monastery complex with multiple structures.

The Kaashidhoo Wetlands located in Kaafu Atoll is special for lovers of tortoises, Maldivian Black Turtle, (Melanochelys trijuga thermalis, locally known as Kanzu Kahambu) an endangered and protected species in the nation. Kaashidhoo Wetlands is the site with the most frequently reported sightings and the mangrove apple groves or Kulhvah faa in Kaashidhoo. A significant proportion of the island is wetlands where these mangrove species flourish.
